Tim Allred, YESS Co-Chair

  

Tim is the Vice President of Hudson River Valley Resorts, LLC and the Manager of the Williams Lake Resort Community, a sustainable resort and residential community in the Hudson Valley. When complete, the community will include a 130-room hotel and 154 residences set on 800 acres of spectacular landscape.  Tim spent the first half of his career in international community development in Latin America and Southeast Asia.  Tim has a Masters in Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and an MBA from the School of Management of Yale University. Tim is an original member of the “Green Davos” group that was the precursor to the inaugural YESS event in 2015.

Emily Grady, YESS Co-Chair

   

Emily Grady manages the North American operations of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, a CEO-led organization of forward-thinking companies that galvanizes the global business community to create a sustainable future for business, society and the environment. Emily is an EDF Climate Corps fellow and a member of the 2016 GreenBiz 30 Under 30 cohort. She holds a Master degree in Environmental Management from Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

Sara Smiley Smith, YESS Co-Chair

   

Sara is the Program Manager for Yale College Environmental Studies where she works to cultivate a community of engaged problem solvers seeking solutions to a diverse set of environmental challenges. She received her Ph.D. from F&ES in 2016, and completed the joint master’s degree program between the School of Epidemiology and Public Health and F&ES in 2007. During her time at Yale, she has also had the opportunity to work in the University’s Office of Sustainability. Sara holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Political Science from Middlebury College (2004). She spent her childhood on the remnants of her family’s dairy farm in the small town of Winslow, Maine.

Abigail Snyder, YESS Student Lead

   

Abby is pursuing a Master of Environmental Management with a focus on food security and corporate sustainability. Abby served as a U.S Fulbright Fellow in Indonesia and as a Natural Resource Management U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Togo, West Africa. While living in Washington, D.C., she worked for a social enterprise and an environmental non-profit. Most recently, as an Environmental Defense Fund Climate Corps Fellow, she helped accelerate progress toward common sustainability goals by leading the development of greenhouse gas inventory guidance with the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy. 

Laura Tamjarv, YESS Student Lead

    

Laura is a first year joint degree student pursuing her MBA and Master of Environmental Management at Yale. She is passionate about creating businesses with a social and environmental purpose and focuses her studies on corporate social responsibility, energy systems and sustainability of global food systems. Prior to Yale, Laura worked as an Analyst for HSBC Global Banking and Markets London at the company’s technology, operations and research divisions. She also interned for the Estonian Renewable Energy Association to help Estonia shift 100% of its electricity production to renewable energy sources. Laura graduated from University College London with a BSc in Economics and Geography.
